The hobbit is actually a prequel to the LOTR. Bilbo is abOut frodos age in the hobbit. It's the story about how bilbo gets the ring.
The movie is called the hobbit, not hobbits. Iirc, you really don't even get much exposure at all to other hobbits in the book other then bilbo.
It would help to do a little research before going on a rant.
