Don't believe that there is much of a fix out there. I remember seeing one mod that was supposed to help but never tried it and don't remember the name.
I just turn off the radar and that helps some but don't forget to turn it back on if you are leaving port. Once you get out of visual range of things you can kick up the TC some.
