Government decision on the new submarine project!

The Swedish government has decided to initiate work on a new generation of submarines for the Swedish Armed Forces.

The new generation, with Kockums project designation A26, shall be designed to withstand both coastal operations and have the capacity to be the ocean. It will be powered by conventional diesel-electric machinery, and also be equipped with air independent propulsion system type Stirling, making it difficult to detect.The new A26 will be "invulnerable" by a very strong protection against impact and underwater explosions. It will also have a capacity to carry different modular utility loads, with a tubsystem which is more flexible compared to today's torpedo tubes.

A26 must be able to be connected to various forms of network.trough entire submarine's service life, it shall be upgraded and adjusted by a highly modular design.
