I can't say why, maybe they need training  but for me it's been like that.
Not using the assistance will learn you to gather the target info yourself so even if it's a more demanding way youäll gain from it.

I seeeeee. Also, is it okay if my meters are a hundreds off? Because, when ever I use the actual ruler its a few hundreds off my stadi reading.
