Joe might be clean, but someone has been covering this up for an awful long time. Like since 1998 and the man in charge of the investigation, DA Ray Gricar disappered in 2005. His car was found abandoned with no sign of him.

Letrell Crittenden is a Penn State graduate. He later covered the crime beat as a reporter for a Centre Daily Times.

We asked Crittenden about the disappeance of Centre County district attorney Ray Gricar, who once investigated former Penn State assistant Jerry Sandusky.
Sandusky is now charged with 40 counts in a child sex-abuse scandal. Gricar didn’t charge Sandusky in 1998 with some of the counts in the 2011 indictment.
Gricar disappeared in 2005.
Former investigators who worked the case and Gricar's family now say they don't believe there's any connection between his disappearance and his 1998 investigation into Sandusky.
But local investigators now plan to review gricar's 1998 investigation of sandusky.
Crittenden covered Gricar at one time.
"When I found out there was no prosecution I was not surprised, but that has more to do with just the basic nature of the community there," Crittenden says.
Gricar vanished in 2005. His car was found abandoned in Lewisburg. His laptop computer was fished out of a river three months later. The hard drive was later found smashed. No files were recovered.

"For whatever reason he's gone, no one knows," Crittenden said. "To me it's just another sign of how much is covered up within Happy Valley."
Crittenden also thinks there is a lot more to the Sandusky story, which also features former Penn State football coach Joe Paterno, an assistant coach, and three former top Penn State officials.
"I think that this is a cover up of epic proportions," Crittenden said.
He says reporters always had trouble digging up sensitive information at Penn State, and he believes there's much more to this story.
"There are other people who knew about this who did not come forward.
