My grandpa changed the last part of his last name from -cyk to -zik
As you certainly know, we have many people with Eastern roots living in the Ruhr-area (Dortmund and surrpounding), many who immigrated here already the 19th century.
So when you spell you name on the phone here in the West, people have more trouble spelling Müller than Krczynsky.
