One thing I love about games and especially campaigns is the ladder/leveling effect.
F.ex.: you start from scratch with a primitive sub (s18 A.F. or Porpuise P.H.) and no extra equipment. Then getting Renown will make new equipment and subs available later on. I believe SH3 was setup in that way, but the 6 subs available in the very beginning of the american campaign is just ridiculous IMHO, and it removes the feeling of achiements of getting a new sub.

Soooo..... is it possible to make a mod that changes the renown required to get your hands on a better sub? I already tried changing the NSS_[subname].cfg but it didnt appear to have any effect. Should I look elsewhere or is it not possible?
Another "hack" would be to change the date of appearence, but where would I do that?
