i.e. NoWeaponOfficerAssistRealismPercentage=6 (Change that to 1 Pappy) just an example of what I am saying on how easy there can be a fix...
I do not want to reinstall especially if there is a techie who understands what I am suggesting. If not then to heck with it! I have to head out to the North Sea on a UXO subsea project which I am built for so to speak! Small brain and big muscles ... LOL
I'll check back over the weekend before I catch a red eye ...

I'm just saying be practical. You are waiting for someone with modding knowledge to give you the answer. (S)He might not respond in the comming days, and then you are out on the North Sea without SH3. (well, in as far as auto-targeting is required) Use the time you have instead to be certain that you can play. You are assuming the value fix exists, and that the files are corrupted. Actually, where is the proof that a file is corrupted? Other than that you didn't change anything mod wise yourself and something doesn't work anymore as you expect it. But that isn't proof.
Are you sure it is not human error in the targeting process? (I mean, not uncommon after a long no-playing period) Did you lock up the target? Do you have the weapon officer slot filled? If the Nav officer slot isn't filled the helm controls have no effect. So, similar with automatic targeting I think. But I'm not sure, since I always do manual.
I wouldn't be able to tell you where that fix might be at in the files. I just know the quoted RealismPercentages are just the reduction you get from enabling realism 'cheats'. So that won't help I think.
