Boy, first convoy we found had some nice targets, and only 2 escorts. Hit a large merchant that went up instantly. One eel and the fireworks began. Must have been carrying ammo or explosives, or I hit her fuel tank. Oh, and who says playing chicken with destroyers is a bad idea?
Received Iron Cross first class and U-boat front clasp upon arrival at base.
