That's right the problem, as I indicated: there are too many titles (which in almost all cases I cannot attribute to the music anyway).
German Amazon for example gives you over 1300 entries for MP3 recordings related to Mancini.

The number of albums related to "Morricone" also goes into the
hundreds.

Much is double recording and foreign recording, but still: both of these two created incredibly many pieces, themes, and albums.
I hoped somebody had a tip for a solid "Best of" with 2 or 3 CDs, a tip relating to the included content as well as the recording's quality.
