As for the AutoTDC thing I believe you're stuck with the numbers thing. Just match up 3 with 3 for example.
Manual targeting doesn't really use a lot of trig, you can eyeball a bunch of it and there are built in devices, like the RAOBF, which you can find out all information about a ship with. Or just setup 90 degree attacks.
