I have to agree. I can save anywhere (during a battle, near a loaded port, etc.) or at anytime w/o a problem. The scant few "Save Game" issues I have had, I don't believe are related to SHIV itself. Maybe mod soup, another program (virus scan) running, etc., but the game saves everything for me, all the time.
