From what I've heard, Real Environment-R2 never got updated at some point, or something like that, which can cause some crashes.
The Dynamic Environment mod still looks pretty nice, I did notice somethings looked better (like the waves and how the water moves over the u-boat for example). But overall I wouldn't say you'd notice a major difference between the two mods, besides the one that crashes.
It was worth it to me to swap it out to avoid the crashes. Hope that helps & works for you as well.
