Japanese planes conduct a heavy raid on Pearl Harbor
Luckily for the US, none of her pacific fleet carriers were present, but that is the only good news.
The American planes were caught on the ground and destroyed, and many battleships and destroyers were sunk. In this strike Japanese casualties were negligible.
The battleships Oklahoma and California were destroyed with great loss of life. Arizona badly damaged, later settled onto the bottom of the harbor.
The Japanese enas returned to their carriers safely.
