think attacks like these really did happen but were probably very rare.The convoy would need to be weakly defended and you would need an excellent hardened crew to pull tactics like these off,not to mention the level of situational awareness and skill on your (the commander's) part.But under the cover of darkness and with the element of surprise I wouldnt be surprised if it
did work with some measure of success.
