Right now it is gulping the Bahamas. It looks to me the eye of the storm will be offshore right up the coast. The heaviest winds will stay on the east side of the eye. However, a lot of water is being pushed in front of the storm. The surge will affect the coastline to some extent. The Chesapeake Bay will probably have issues with the surge being pushed up a ever closing bay as it proceeds northward. This has happened before with hurricane Isabel that came up the mouth of the Chesapeake. I suspect a lot of rainfall along the coast. I believe the storm is 800 miles in diameter.
