Did you crash dive and set another depth before reaching the preset depth of 70 metres for a crash dive? Were you also sinking stern first? If so, it might be a bug that has affected me on occasions. Can be hair raising trying to maintain depth by having to increase speed and at the same time trying to evade destroyers.
After ordering a crash dive I now always let my boat reach the preset 70 metres before ordering to go deeper.
