I think your best bet is to turn music off in the main screen (it's boring and repetitive music anyway) and work with the gramaphone.

You can download the mod which has German WW2 era songs or even play your own MP3's (just add them to this folder - \data\Sound\Gramophone). You can then start or stop the music on your command.
