Or this is a new contact that entered detection range but doesn't show soundbearings on the map yet. When in doubt, listen through the hydrophone yourself where the sound is coming from.
p.s. But the money is on the OP changing course right after the report came. (I think he moved the waypoint marker according to the text messages, and then the uboat changed course at flank speed.)
