Well the trainer sounds great, and I'll want to get my hands on it as soon as I can. I do a ton of hydrophone plotting, and I often find later on that some of my earlier plotted points were way off, like by 10km sometimes. It would be much better to have about a 2-3km accuracy on range, and this mission will help a lot with that. Then I won't have to rely on the sonarman so much. I'm pretty decent with the hydrophone, but I have a hard time telling the difference between 1km and 3km ranges, and those are the most important to be able to tell. I also can't tell whether the target is moving away or closing just by the sound, I have to plot it out. I wonder if that's even possible? I'm working on a single mission right now with 2 ships close to eachother, one is moving towards me, the other is moving away. Then I'll see if I can tell a difference.
Also, the comment you made about the u-boat commander, I've read that on this forum. Someone has that quote as part of their sig, but I didn't know it was a real u-boat commander. I thought it was just a normal guy who always got beat by the game, and was complaining about it, and someone thought it was funny enough to put in their sig, which it would be pretty funny. So that was a real u-boat commander? I'd love to find that thread, but I searched for his name on the forum, and couldn't find it.
