trav, i read your questions, and im making the mission to test all your questions so we can get them answered. the mission starts off at 12:00pm, the t-3 is bearing 0, speed 16 knots,
range 34.945 km, course 180, relative to the u-boat. the u-boat is at periscope depth, speed 0 knots, course 0.

one hour 10 minutes and 46 seconds later the u-boat gets completely destroyed as the t-3 runs over it. i had to have the t-3 collide with the u-boat in order to get a truely accurate TSD solution
from mission start to collision.

9 radio messages inform the commander of the t-3's range in 5 km increments 10 minutes apart.

1 radio message lets the commander know what range and when the t-3 becomes visable in the periscope.

the primary objective in this mission is to help the u-boat commander estimate range by sound intensity, and the radio messages gives range at 5 km increments, but i made a list with time and range for every minute of the mission, you will know what the range of the tanker is by referring to the range/time list.

im not finished with the mission yet, but i think your questions will be answered when i finish.

i have to get in touch with harm's way, and cpt naultius again, as i think theres alot more that has to go into the sound trainer.

this mission is phase 2 of the sound trainor, phase 3 will be tracking a contact by sound, and using a sonar overlay for plotting target course and finding a CPA by sound. theres also one im going to make to show you how to get a visual contacts course and AOB, in your head style, just one or 2 simple addition or subtraction problems and youve got target course. you wont believe how simple it really is.

i cant remember the old german u-boat commanders name who said the simulations beat him almost all the time, in real life it was alot easier. but i believe him, i think it was.
