The reason being that when the mistake is pointed out MH denies he made a mistake was made and when it is pointed out that his mistake was undeniable he goes on crazy rants.
It really is that simple Penguin.
It wouldn't be much of an issue if he didn't do it so often or if he didn't always follow the same pattern.

Yes it would be, but when they get to the stage of denying they are wrong it makes it nothing but a lie.
If MH said he was mistakenly just repeating falsehoods then fine..instead he went off on one.
