My Jane's Fighting Ships of World War 2 show the Red Banner Fleet as using a narrow commissioning or commander's flag consisting of the Soviet naval ensign at the mast end with a long, red, swallow-tailed pendant. Several of the photos show ships and submarines flying these (or similar pendants, the pictures are not clear) on the main mast or streaming from the vertical HF antenna.

They seem most evident on small vessels, maybe Captain's of the 2nd or 3rd Rank size.

Does this seem plausable?

Edit: This site shows it as a senior officer broad pennent but it appears too short and Jane's lists these as a seperate entry.
