If you use RUB 1.45 and start in Floatilla 2. you will notice the Type IXB available for use, altho you need 9000 renown to procure one.

As for the designation change ie. IXB to IX, it cannot easily be done without changing all the instances in the mission files.

I found the same problem with the Type II. Ubisoft posted the IIA as the common type II workhorse when only 6 were made, and they were consigned to training. It was the IIB that was used most with 20 being made, at least until the IID appeared 5 years later.

I had looked into changing this, which requires cloning the IIA and replacing it with the IIB version. Then you have to change every file with an instance that refers to the IIA, not to mention changing the RUB IIB version which is not playable.

So you see, it is actually more trouble than it is worth, unfortunately.
