yeah, tdw. but its not contrary...walk around, interact and also have a real roster of your crew. the sh4 style was the most realistic one. having watches defined and also the repair teams, etc. even some of this was job of the LI or the 1WO, you as a captain where in charge of ALL crew members. what you wanted them to do, was done.
what i miss most, is getting some kind of relationship to your crew. in sh3 and sh4 it was a fundamental part of the gameplay to know, who is sailing on your boat. so if "gustav schmidt - matrosengefreiter", new on your boat, was injured or died on service, it felt really bad. some young men, new to the navy, just on first patrol and already dead.
and also the decoration of single crew members is really missing. in sh3, you decorated the command room crew, if you felt like they did a good job, or the repair team, if their work was really life saving. they all get an iron cross...
the fact we didnt have it in sh5 is not part of the concept, it was not possible to add it in time. otherwise it would have been done, as it was a main part of your job as a captain to manage your crew...and not just your officers.
