My best friend who was a CTR says they looked more like convicts than sailors in what he had to wear.
It gets stupider...
When he manned the rails coming in to Norfolk, they made him where a blue construction helmet.
I had to rip on him for that saying he must be sailing for the UN Navy and not the US Navy.
But they are not going back to dungarees and white hats, they are going for blue or gray cammo BDU now.
