What about the
United Federation of Planets? It’s basically a communist state and it seems to work out OK. Everyone has free food, has free clothing (just don’t where a red shirt), there is no disease (except the one the crew of the Enterprise encounters every week), there are a bunch of cool starships from Star Fleet to protect you. Over a 150 member worlds can't be wrong!
