Great stuff.
I was just feeling tired and didn't have enough time for a serious patrol, so I figured I'd play around. I, too, found this when messing with sub and ship variables while looking for fixes for various game issues back in the day.
I gotta dial up the speed on these things a bit too - the most I had was a type II jump a few hundred feet up at 100mph or so
