I sunk a US carrier once like this during my early play. Too far to see a flag and was the first US TF I'd ever seen, probably didn't think they existed in the game. I id'ed a "Fleet Carrier",,,figured it was JP and sent torps at it. I then ID'ed a Fletcher DD, I knew that was US..but the torps went crashing home and scratch one flattop...
Oh well, it was stock then and I sunk several merchants later and still got a medal.
