I got to see that SuperFortress "FiFi"(unless they got another one flying which I doubt) in Daytona Beach back in 97 or so just so happened to be in town on leave at the time.I went through the ground tour but it was still pretty damn cool to see the cockpit and the rest of "the office" the old man that was giving the tour had flown in 29s in Korea and he even let me go though the tunnel to get to the gunners stations in the back. The cost of going for a ride was too steep for my blood and once you have ridden on a noisy C-130 you already know more or less what a large prop planes feels like.
Reminds me weren't some volunteers from one of the cities where they made B29s making one just as they did in WWII(though not as fast) that they where going to display in a museum? Is this true or am I nuts?
I also heard at some point that a group was contemplating trying to make a B-36 flyable I think that would be very hard to do in deed but to see "Magnesium Over Cast" that would be nice.
Wish I had the time to go to this event maybe next year.
