The Dems think the government should take over about everything. So far it's about bail outs and entitlements, the GOP for corporations, the Dems for the poor, both will and have failed.

And none of them seem to care about the country beyond the next election. . It may be that our form of government may be the very instrument of our downfall?

All "empires" have a lifespan. For a long time we were riding pretty high. Perhaps we are experiencing the downfall of our "empire"?
