Playing DiD, I would get your crew out of the English Channel as fast as possible -- there's a reason it's called the ENGLISH Channel and not the Now It Belongs To Nazi Germany Channel.
Of course, a) it's your first patrol, so as was mentioned before, you can always start a new career.
b) It's 1939, so the Channel isn't quite as off-limits as in later years,
and c) do plan out your escape route. If you go all the way through the Channel, how are you going to get back?
