Now when following a target at 180º AoB, I've actually had better luck with the 90º gyro shot than a shot straight at the stern of the victim. Small course changes during the torpedo run will cause the straight shot to miss, but a shot coming in at 90º to the beam is darned difficult to turn away from!

Sometimes a large gyro angle will buy you an artificial reef.
