After looking at it for a few times, I think that screenshot is rendered 3D shot.

I can't say I am an excellent 3D renderer, but I have learned some tricks. One would be the use of ambient occlusion render, i.e. you render the color (normal) picture first and as a separate layer, the AO, mix them in Photoshop and you get very nice results, much like this, those nearest rock on the left look like they've had some AO treatment.

But I must say, it still looks awesome.

EDIT: The largest thing Photoshop-wise is the fog/clouds. They look too random. Effectively, clouds are 2d pictures (usually), photoshop here too? Not saying them clouds/fog wont' be there in the final product, but not as nice.
