If you start with the 7th out of Konigsberg (in GWX) in August 1939, you'll get at least one message that will tell you to return to base and transfer to Wilhelmshaven (2 Flotilla) or Kiel (1 Flotilla) before starting your second patrol. I think it tells you to transfer to one or the other. That's the only thing I can think of. I don't remember getting a whole bunch of them, though.
