I truly think the RIAA and MPAA are examples of what are wrong with capitalism.
Pirating is illegal, but the penalties vastly outweigh the crime. I really think if they made the penalties lower, and a much more reasonable amount, then people would respect the laws better. They would see them as a fair and just law. They were written to punish the mass producers of pirated goods, not the 12 year old kid who wants to grab the latest single.
I agree with the huge fines for the groups that were producing CD's and such is huge volumes. But for the average Joe, it's not even close to reasonable.
