Your italian and most probable your using the Italian version of the game.
Merchantile grande is actually the Large steamer, so there is no error. Only problem is that you will need a Italian localization for SOAN to match the description of the ships between SOAN and the default recon manual. And I dont think we have something like that so far. But you can be the first to make one.
