I'm playing SH3 with GWX3 enabled along with the following smaller mods:

Enhanced damage effects
Mediterranean aircraft skins
No Medals on Crew
VIIC/41 Player sub
Late war sensors snorkel antennas
16km atmosphere

I know I supercede the recommended requirements for playing the game, so it's not an issue of poor system performance. I just docked at the Bessel supply ship in Vigo, Spain to reload on torps and fuel. Now I just got orders to return to Wilhelmshaven, but for some reason when I try to save my game mid-patrol, it says my save fails!

I really don't want to get in a scuffle with a destroyer, or sink a ****load of ships, and get killed or have a CTD on me without having a good save point. Any suggestions??
