I "like" the new crew member also. But I still say...I like her a lot better on shore under less stressful circumstances than under life or death circumstances where balls...not babes...are the order of the day.
There was a Joan of Arc...there was a a Molly Pitcher...and a variety of other historical female warriors throughout history...as Berry points out. There were at least five female snipers in THE 'NAM (bad guy side). They were VERY good. I killed one...after she had taken over 37 Marines (Khe San). But...I still would not want to bet MY life on the off-chance that Suzie Q would evolve into a fire breathing Dragon Lady in a combat situation, unless her own children's lives were immediately at stake.....as opposed to reverting to a schniviling coward under those same circumstances. You have enough trouble with guys under those conditions without compounding the problem by introducing women into the equation. Why would one introduce a very real negative probability into an already uncertain situation on the chance that it might work one out of (at best) ten thousand times. The risk ain't worth the reward. Not when the life of my men...as well as my own, are dependent on individual excellence and sacrifice under extremely stressful, jungle-rules circumstances. FROGDOG.
