Oh yes..... yes there is....
They are almost annoyingly in the game.... you will come to rue them as you run into them..... literally.
Each port you start from, you are escorted from your berth by a minesweeper (albeit I think Kiel uses something else, but they're purpose is the same, to Asplode instead of you).
