He's pretty much put his foot down and stopped doing any kind of update or adding new features; his role now is entirely supportive and answering questions or directing ppl to rtfm
Baring something like 19 out of 20 machines start ctd when booting with SHC or something else that would fit into the major disaster category he's said that he is finished with the project.
The survivors have to be randomized, otherwise any time you sink the Hood it would always have only 3 survivors. Any tankers/merchants carrying tnt/bauxite would also probably have 100% casualties as well, though it does a good job of modelling casualties for cargo in most cases.
