My problem is that I've played war games for so many decades now I no longer care about winning so much as about recreating the feel of being there. I spend a lot of time looking at the harbors on the way out and in, and I tend to stay in my assigned patrol grid forever, even if I get nothing. I've actually had more than one totally dry patrol, and for some perverse reason I like it that way.
Back in my SH1 days I would take over the deck gun because I was so much better than the AI crew, and sink godawful unbelievable tonnage, but as I got old so did the thrill. The funny thing is that I don't use manual targetting, but still manage to miss a lot. Well, it is set for manual, but I'm using WE Assistance.
I'm weird. Sue me.
