Have a look at
this newsgroup thread. Same audio adapter, different problem. But try disabling the adapter's DIGITAL SOUND setting under Windows control panel and see if it helps. Also reduce the adapter's HARWARE ACCELERATION setting to see if that resolves the problem.
You're running on a notebook PC?
