The Type VII was 'rated' for 90 meters only. You can tell the test depth for a u-boat by looking at the line between green/yellow. The line between yellow/red is the 'do not pass under any circumstances' line. The fact that they did go deeper (in some cases much deeper) is beside the point. The US boats did the same. You can expect the crush depth to be roughly twice the listed test depth, which means a Gato is good to at least 600 feet and a Tench to 900. I wouldn't want to find out the hard way, but pretty much any sub can go a lot deeper than the 'rated' depth.
