The SA and the Hull arrays still aren't going to be much use against covert submerged contacts.
I should mention also that there is now variability between the SA and Hull arrays of various platforms, in terms of quality: SW, then 688i, then Akula, then Kilo. But as I said, this won't matter much for sub vs. sub warfare. The changes are only intended to increase the usefulness of the "other arrays" in generating situation awareness, not as an aid for tactical prosecution in ASW.
The changes significant enough that I'm not sure how it's going to work out in practice, to be honest, but it ought to be much closer to the picture painted in the Ehime Maru AAR. I can't wait for the MP test!
