Hallo!
Greetings to you, serious sub fans. I just recently got myself Silent Hunter 5. I was never really a sub maniac, more like a video game and World War II enthusiast.
When I started to command my own U-Boot, I was happy like a child in a candystore. I have this foul taste for games, you see, I like them painfully realistic, and though those polish ships you sink in the tutorial mission were a walk in the park, attacking my first convoy by the british coast was a pain in the neck. All those nautical terms I was just unfamiliar with, not hitting a single torpedo, trying to figure out the stadimeter and find out what is the angle on bow.
I wouldn't just give up, though, so I googled everything, and all results pointed to this forum. I have been playing for days now, almost all, and I really mean like 90% of my free time, and I have to say I never liked a game more.
The days spent wandering aimlessly in the open sea, until finally a contact is spotted and the suspense begins. It's a slow paced game, but even so, when a ship is spotted, every second counts. And I love it, every damn slow second of it.
Dont know if it's such a good game compared to others, but I loved it so far, and I know I'm starting to love submarines too. If you'll allow me, they're like the snipers of the sea.
I'm expecting to learn a lot here, and I hope you have as much fun with your sub sims as I have with mine.
Thank you.
