I would have also like to have seen something done about the acoustics. It remains a ridiculously simplified model that operates at any speed and in any sea state, let alone the modeling of things like convergence zones.

You're right there. I was speaking more for myself. I never really thought of it that way, although deep down I really 'knew' that. People wanted Das Boot in video game form. It's all that a lot of people talk about; likely most of the community. So, yes, I guess that the devs were really giving the people what they wanted after all.

I'd never really thought about it that way.
