Is Truk on the stock map? I cant find it in the in-game map
Now I'm playing TMO 2.0.

During the early part of the war, 1941 onwards, there is indeed not much at Rabaul, however, every once in a while a convoy comes along.

I seem to remember that once in TMO 1.4, once I got the Gato Class boat, I made a trip to Rabaul and inside the harbor was two fleet class carriers. But not since playing TMO 2.0 have I had that luck.

Now from late 1942, August to be exact, about once every week a fleet of about six DD's come out of Rabaul heading towards Guadalcanal.

I have submerged on the east side of the mouth leading south from Rabaul to intercept these. You can attack during the day, but I seem to have better luck attacking at night.

From about June, July, or August of '43, once the Japs move their airbase from Rabaul to Wewak, you will catch convoys and task forces heading in to and out of Rabaul. Heading in from the north from Truk, or heading in from the west. And usually more convoys head out west from Rabaul than they do to the north towards Truk.

But, I can't stress this enough, in TMO 2.0, the Jap air patrols will nail you. They are twice as acurate in TMO 2.0 as in the stock version or TMO 1.4.

Dive to 180 or 220 feet when radar pick them up heading your way.

One more piece of advice.

If your playing the stock version, when you receive the Balao class sub, after 1943 when the Japs retreat from Rabaul, you can make a trek to Truk. If your lucky enough to penetrate the harbor, you may find a whole fleet anchored in the harbor. Truk is roughly 600 miles due north of Rabaul.

However, if your playing TMO 1.5 or higher, I suggest you avoid Truk altogether.

Good Luck and Happy Hunting!
