If they find the crews to take the risk - well, it is not my problem. Sailors can refuse to board ships and sign contracts.
The alternatives are military forces or mercenaries aboard the ships, which the EU alrerady whined about - too harsh, or waging full war on the pirates and wiping them out, which the EU also does not like: too harsh, too costly, it says. I am for the latter, to avoid making spending on anti-pirate operations a thing lasting forever.
But that is not being considered. So it seems in a way we deserve these pirates.
It's like with any war: either do it right and put your heart into it,
or better let it be. Half-hearted foolishness leads nowhere, and just makes the misery lasting longer than necessary.
