well, i refuse to smoke cigarettes, i find the smell of many brands to be unpleasant.
cigars on the other hand, i will smoke.
however, ask any connoisseur and he will tell you cigars are not to be
inhaled only drawn into the mouth, flavored, and expelled. admired for their flavor and aroma rather than some intoxicating effect.
everyone has their vices, chewing tobacco, cigarettes, cigars or alcohol... and im sure that everyone is well aware of the risks of those vices.
from my point of view, sometimes i wish those organizations like "ash" would just shut up.
if someone over 18 wants to smoke a cigarette, let them, they are grown up enough to know better.
then again, my grandfather smoked cigarettes from the time he was about 8 or 9 years old up until he was about 40. He died at the ripe old age of 86.
My other grandfather was a sea captain who was hardly ever seen without a cigar. he died at about 65 due to a condition associated with long term industrial petroleum exposure.
the bottom line that i have adopted in the last 3 or 4 years is that
something has to kill you. I have known a LOT of young people in the 20-30 age group who have been killed by being hit by cars, car accidents, plane crashes, acts of war or terrorism, aortic dissection and the list goes on...
fact is my roof could cave in killing me as soon as i finish typing this post.
i could die, literally at any minute.
so... may as well live a little while one has the chance.
